I am putting together a calendar of events covering all the groups I am involved with and any other events I feel may be of interest to anyone. Feel free to let me know of events you'd like to see on the calendar.
Check out this calendar and I'm sure you can find some events of interest to get you out and riding.

Western Iowa Cycle Riders Dinner
Donna and I were able to make it to the Western Iowa Cycle Riders Dinner on Saturday night. They had 85 people show up for this dinner, man what a crowd. We were welcomed with open arms and it was a good time. The kicker to the deal was that our dinner and membership were paid for. Didn't cost us a dime except for gas to get there and back. They had extra money in their treasury and decided to pay the money back to their members by paying for their dinners and giving new members their membership for free this year. Not sure if they will do this all year or if this was a one time event. It was a nice surprise. Kind of a nice thing about this group is that they are not affiliated with a national organization. They are solely their own entity and that allows them some freedom.
The place they had the meeting was called Cronk's in Denison. Very, very nice place and I'd recommend it if you are in the area for any reason. They had a wonderful buffet with two different kinds of carved meat plus all kinds of other stuff and a salad bar with lots of stuff on it as well. All the food was homemade. Very good quality and taste of everything I had.
They hold 5 poker runs a year. One each month from June to October. 5 different towns will be the start off point for the poker runs. Some are not too far from here. I wholeheartedly recommend going to any of these if you can. They put on some good rides and they always provide a great meal. Cost of the poker run is only $10, well worth the money.
They have some prizes to give away if you make all the poker runs. You can also do the tour they have set up which consists of traveling to certain spots and taking your picture at that spot. They change the tour every year and have had some very interesting tours. You can get prizes for doing this as well.
If you have a chance , I suggest you hook up with this group and have a good time with them. I don't believe you'll be disappointed.

Big Barn Movie
Movie at Big Barn on Friday was pretty good. Beyond the Law is worth seeing. There was probably almost a dozen people. It is kind of fun just to get together with a bunch of different people and relax with a movie. They provide popcorn and refreshments. All free. That is a good thing. I don't see a movie listed for April on their calendar yet but time will tell. They did say they were going to be doing it throughout the summer. When weather gets better, they will have the movie outside like a drive in. Go on out and have a good time some time.

February Thaw
February Thaw was a blast as it has proven to be each year. We had our usual amount of problems at the start but managed to get past everything and turn it into a wonderful time with all our GWTA friends and family.
We had 4 chapters in Iowa represented as well as several couples from Nebraska and one couple from Illinois. It was really great that we could have everyone come over and participate in our fun. Everyone came and did exactly what we wanted them to do. Have a good time and enjoy the camaraderie.
Our bingo game and Oldiewed game went over very well. Everyone had a great time with these. We have been asked what we will do to outdo the games for next year. I am not sure what we can do but we will attempt to come up with something.
Our dinner this year was fantastic. Catered by two of our very own members , Rich and Tina. They did a fantastic job and we received numerous compliments on the dinner. I wish we could have had this good a meal in the past years.
Nebraska chapter Z came prepared with a skit to share with us all. It was absolutely hilarious and we thank them for doing this to entertain us.
Those that couldn't make it missed our Region Director dressed as Richelle and participating in the oldiewed came with Michelle and Doug Sullivan. This was a good time. Rick did a good job of getting into costume and into the spirit. I am sure we can round up some pictures somewhere.
Lots of good conversations were heard going on and we got to meet a lot of new people. I noticed that a lot of people got out of their comfort zone and moved around and met with other people. This is what this event is all about.
Plans are already underway for next years Thaw and we hope that we can get a great turn out. We truly do love putting this event on and getting to see our extended family.
